Loading...The ECW of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Morristown hosted a Food and Wine Pairing on Sunday evening, June 7. The event served as a fund raiser to assist local children in need to attend Camp Billy Johnson – one of the diocesan outreach camps held at Grace Point Camp and Retreat Center each summer.
ECW President, Ms. Marylou Mauney, contacted parishioner and Executive Sommelier, Ms. Jill Bruce, with the thought of doing a fund-raiser for CBJ. The event was enthusiastically planned with many volunteers from the church and underway! Approximately 50 women from the church and the Morristown community were in attendance. Guests were met with an aperitif of sparkling wine upon arrival before sitting down to beautifully set tables surrounding the swimming pool. The venue was at the home of Ms. Bruce. Floral arrangements were designed and styled by parishioner, Mr. David Burnette.
The five-course pairing included a French Goat Cheese Appetizer, Tangerine Vinaigrette Salad, Rosemary Encrusted Pork Tenderloin with Green Beans, Sausage & Penne Marinara. A dessert course of Roasted Pear with Bleu Cheese & Candied Walnuts finished the evening. The women were served by the men of All Saints’ with a wine complimentary to each dish. With the pairings, Jill introduced the wine, described the nuances of each of them, as well as spoke on the history of the growth of the grapes into fine wines. Very informative – and fun!
The gathering was a wonderful success in fellowship and stewardship.
A fabulous evening – and one made even more so – with a large amount of funding raised. All used to send children from Hamblen County, whom may otherwise never have the opportunity to go to camp, for a week at Camp Billy Johnson. A week of swimming, fishing, tubing, creating, playing, and sharing on beautiful Watts Bar Lake.
Surely, God is present in this place.
