Loading...This is the time of year to plan your last UTO ingathering for the 2016 year. I hope you will encourage everyone in your parish to take on this century old Episcopal discipline of living a thankful life.
I have recently challenged the Episcopal Church Women during our fall meeting at St. Paul's, Athens to go back to their local parishes with this message. To ask each of you to devote eight minutes a week to the discipline of being thankful. To select a time of day, each day to have a quiet time to spend one minute being thankful for something or someone in your life then drop a coin or bill in your blue mite box. Now, that is seven minutes each week and on Sunday take one minute to tell someone around you about this discipline and the effect on your life.
The Diocese of East Tennessee received a UTO grant of $22,775 during 2016 for Grace Point Camp and Retreat Center and a $20,000 grant in 2015 for FISH Hospitality Pantries Interfaith Congregation Organizing. Every cent given during a United Thank Offering is paid back out in grants. Remember that your change changes lives.
All funds received during the UTO ingathering need to be remitted to the ECW of the Diocese of East Tennessee by December 15, 2016 to receive credit for this year. My term as UTO Coordinator is coming to an end December 31, 2016. I cannot begin to tell you the impact on my life that living a thankful life has made.
