Outreach Camps Director Seeks Your Help

Sinéad Doherty May 02, 2014

I am blessed to be the director of the two outreach camps held at GracePoint this summer, and I am reaching out to you for help in making these camps a success in 2014.

Jim Muir Kamp 4 Kids runs July 17-20, for children with incarcerated parents from Knoxville and surrounding rural areas. This is the fifth year of the program.

Camp Billy Johnson runs July 28-August 2, for underprivileged urban children from Knoxville and Chattanooga. More information can be found at //www.campbillyjohnson.org/index.htm

These camps operate entirely on donations. No child pays to attend, and all the necessary items like bedding and toiletries are provided, in order to allow children the joy of camp without being burdensome for families. These children would not otherwise be able to attend summer camps, due to cost and transportation issues.

This year we hope to have 35 campers at each session, but we need your help to sponsor them. The cost of camp for each child is $150 for Jim Muir, and $390 for Camp Billy Johnson.

If you wish to donate, in any amount, please make checks payable to the Diocese of East Tennessee, with the name of the camp you wish to sponsor in the memo line.

These camps give campers the opportunity to experience a loving grace-filled environment on beautiful WattsBarLake. They learn about God's unconditional love, engage in new activities, make lasting friendships, and simply experience the joy of camp.

You may email Sinead Doherty at gpoutreachcamps@gmail.com with any questions you may have about the camps or donations.

Prayers for the campers and staff are always appreciated.

Thank you for your support of these important ministries!
